hey anyone from wiepa up what is the wireless internet coverage like, or weather the hot spots will work, i know you have to have a maccas and there arnet any past cairns. is there any internet outlets up there, t/a 3 weeks to go.

Cookie, you aren't going to be getting too many hotspots outside of Cairns. Although the winter temperatures do tend to creep up around 30 degrees all over the Cape ... if that helps?!!

Actually I think Cape York Digital Network (http://cydn.com.au/products/hotspot.html) has a heap of hotspots around the cape. Looks like it is $50/month though.


You can access the internet in Cooktown at the Library near the IGA store in Hope St, or try the Cooktown Booking Centre in the Main drag opposite the bowls Club.

As for the PDR ... I think the Coen DPI station has access inside when they're open - but I'm not entirely sure about this.

Weipa library has a handful of computers inside with access to the net and I think the camp ground has a single terminal too.

Not sure about Bamaga etc. Should be a few points up there in the campgrounds.

We had 10.2 degrees yesterday morning. Almost lowest on record. This is unusually cold though, like most of the state at the moment.
