Hi, l presume there are plenty of stores that sell ice in Cape York. l would prefer to bring an esky (large) than a portable fridge as l will be short on space. Any advice greatly appreciated. Jimbo-vic.

Thats something I have never looked for on the Cape, there a plenty of places that should sell it.I dont see you having too much trouble as the distances between towns and road houses is only a couple of hours at the most.

Jimbo, you should have no dramas with getting bagged or block ice.
Like Campdog says, you're only ever a few hours away from towns.
In our experience most new fibreglass eskys keep for two days.
When are you heading up Jimbo. Going on your name you are from Vic somewhere?

With luck we'll see you up there.
Keep an eye out for the CapeYorker windscreen stickers and use CH 13.
Have a great trip.

mate i would like to hope the old evakool iceboxes would be getting 4 days atleast... as long as not puttin in warm beers every few hours...
Am thinking of running 2 fridges/freezer 40 engel + 47 evakool and a 65 or 50 evakool esky (prob 50 be ample)... possibly slightly over kill and not sure how i will fit but see what happens....
may just run fridges... depending on how much food is brought from cairns could quickly fill one and run as freezer all meats etc then one for fresh foods then need esky for beers..
dilemas!
