Coza it was only like yesterday when I had 11 weeks to go. I can't beleive how time flys. TRUST me on this one don't leave everything to the last 2 weeks like i just did as I am SH*T*(g bricks to be ready in time. I'm serious. I started the count down from 97 days and i thought i will be super organised but you would be surprise as how many things start popping up in the last second. Thank God the Crancking battrey on the patrol crapped it self today. better now than in a fortnight. I also had to redo one of my airline hoses to the lockers. The 4rby hasn't missed a beat ever.. and in 2 days to small things happen. SO be prepared.
I put my sticker on today.....Here is the proof

Yoyo, have you got your diff breathers done.
Sticker looks great YoYo, as I new it would on the Patrol.
I think I have everything under control YoYo or I will have by the end of this week. Went to work to day after the long weekend, and it was to wet so they give us the rest of the week off go back next Monday. Should get all of my little job on the Patrol out of the way by Monday. Will be just a waiting game then.
BTW does anyone need a Dozer driver between Melbourne and Weipa in the next couple of weeks, I think the next lot of rain we get down this way I will be made redundant. Might have to start the trip early what a bummer.
Yoyo, have you got your diff breathers done.
Yes i do have them done nice and high. I was told that before you enter water with hot diffs you should leave them cool down a bit but no one had mentioned how long for. I suppose it depends on how hot they are. I ve done a lot of playing in the mud and crossed the local mary river several times with no problems so i don't think there will be any problem but they reckon that when a hot dif goes into cold water is will suck water through. Don't know how true this is.

I have heard of this happening in extreme conditions when diffs are real hot and suddenly immersed in cold water it can be sucked in through diff breathers and the axel seals.

There is a lot of creek crossings on the Cape and if you cooled down at each one it would take forever to get anywhere, On the tele track I think it would take a longtime to get hot.
Keep an eye on the trailer bearings as they can suck water in. The idea is to go into the water slow instead of a quick cool down.I havent had any water in my diffs yet and spent a bit of time in the water on the Cape.

I agree with you there John stopping to wait for diffs to cool down before you enter water is unheard of and certainly a way 2 get nowhere fast I think it would have to be pretty severe conditions to to get water ingest as you said you take it nice and steady enter the water slowly and there isn't any problems most crossing are over fairly quickly your in and out unless yor trying to cross the Jardine or something and we've all seen the results of some of those attempts.
My old hilux I had did seem to get water in the diff even with the breathers extended up on to the firewall, I reckon it was the silly 1 way valves toyota put on the breather let the air in and out when there wasn't much of a flow of air, but when you droped into a river they would suck shut and suck water in through the seals I can't remeber if I changed them or not I think I did just can't remeber the result.
Is that a Side tipper in your Avatar Highlift80

Anything above 35 is just too much for me probably one of the downfalls of beign a mexican. I like the cold.

We had 7 degrees here last week and everyone nearly died. (100k south of Tville) You want to see how many mexicans (anyone south of Brisvegas) we get up here each year. The whole of NQ is booming, they come up here for a holiday, see how cheap it is to live and what a great lifestyle we have, then all of a sudden they all want to move up here

My wife recently thought she was going to use my shed as storage, not that its not big enough but you just can't let them in. I put the crappy stuff in the trailer and took it to the tip and the better stuff hid it under a tarp under the bench and told her it's all gone to the dump. She yelled and called me a few names but she later forgave me and better yet apologised for not listening to my rule of you have the house and I have the shed. She got the good stuff back and doesn't come next to the shed as she knows I wont be as leaneant next time

Nedly, Ive been looking at a coupe of ex telstra patrols lately, but everyone I look at has been painted underneath, everything nice and black,no way to check where they have been used off road. Was yours the same or is it just our local caryard doing it.It oly had 130k on the clock but all the tyres had different tread wear.
Love to buy one but the paining turned me away.

Campdog, I think you'll find the underbody painting is being done by your local yard.
There are a couple of yards in Brissy that sell the trucks, one of the yards does a complete make-up on all there second hand vehicles, paint below and touch up all paint chips, wear marks (eg sills) etc.
Vehicles look better than new, personally I don't like that.
The second yard, Cousins', spend much less time and money on their detailing, gives you more of an idea as to just what you are getting.
The one I ended up buying had 153k on the clock but was fitted with duel batteries, bullbar and Warn winch, it was also a few $k less because of the extra kilometers.
One good thing about the trucks, you do get a history on them and are told where they came from, mine came from Orange.
As for being used off road, they are set up for one man remote area use, some more fitted out than others.
I know mine had been used off road, which I didn't consider to be a problem, because nothing had been hidden by paint.
I'd consider all the tyres having different tread wear is a bit of a concern, were they all the same type?
I'll take a couple of shots in the back before I pack, might give an idea of what I've done.
Really happy with mine, will let you know how happy after my return from the Cape :)

I think you have to be really, really nice to Ant, offer him your first born along with a couple of cases of Bundy.
Stuff like that.
Maybe it's about time he started a 'Available Merchandise' thread or something.
Stickers, magazine, Spare Wheel Covers, Fishing Rods, that sort of thing.
Speaking of fishing rods, what's happening on that front?
Nedly, no need for the rum- scotch will do just fine mate.
In all seriousness, it is good ol Batsey letting the team down- AGAIN. I have been pestering him to send them on to me so that I can get them out to you but he obviously has more important things to do. Like NOTHING.
I am working on them guys, please be patient they will arrive.
PS: Next edition is starting to come together and should be a hit. Can't wait for it to hit the shelves so I can get some breathing space. Not an easy job.
As for the merchandising page- I am also working on that one. Currently getting the website side of things updated and will have a merchandising section when that all happens. As for fishing rods, I cannot place an order unless I can justify the cost. Really need at least 100 orders to come through to start the process.
How many do you want Nedly??

Yes, 'tis true... I am stuffing about with the sticker situation. The missus has just gone back to work today after school holidays so I will be taking the young fella on some daily time-killing trips around town over the next few weeks. I promise one of those trips will be to the sticker shop. I might even do it tomorrow ... or then again I might be busy sipping coffee with the ladies at Playgroup!!
