Looking for info on what the most common breakages and problems that are experienced while dirving at the Cape and if they are inherent of particular vehicles, that way I may be prepared for what I am instore for.
P.s We will be travelling on tracks such as Old Coach Road etc which are said to be pretty rugged. As always any info will be greatly accepted.

If you are driving a nissan you don't even have to ask as they just don't break down.(3L TD excluded) BUT if you drive a Towota you might run into some difficulties. All i can say is make sure you have your racq paid up in full.

So what type of 4rby do you own

I own a Hilux with Snorkel, lockers and a winch for recovering NISSAN GU's:)

I think travelling with someone is your best insurance on places like the old coach road, carry a couple of spare tyres, zip ties, duct tape and a good pair of wire plies and some fencing wire.

I can tell you your suspenion will cop an absolute pounding. When ever you stop take a few minutes to have a look around and under your vehicle check your shock mounts and bushes driveline mounts etc to make sure nothing has flogged out or come loose, a few minutes tightening nuts and bolts underneath will save you a lot of trouble down the track.

My suspension got that hot going into weipa I thought the we were going to tip over on the first right hand bend going into weipa, the shocks didnt work at all.
Keep an eye on your batteries as corragation kills them.
if its getting old, before going to the cape is a good time to replace it.

Your right about the batteries , I had to get a new one as well when I was in Weipa on the way back down one died it was about two years old took the caps off and had a look inside and it was just black mush, Also had front shockies fail as well took some new OME with me so I was also able to change em out at Weipa caravan park when we camped up.
