The very first edition of the Cape Yorker online is now available to read online at the following link: http://issuu.com/capeyorker/docs/cape_yorker_magazine

When viewing the mag online, make sure you select the 'single page view' as it is a hell of a lot easier to read. When you open the mag online, there is a 'tootlbar' at the top of the page. Below is a pictorial showing which button to select.
Once you have done this, you can simply scroll up and down to view the pages, just like you would on a PDF document.

I look forward to your feedback on this.

For those that may be interested, I am also able to make this available as a FREE PDF download if you like. Just let me know.

G'day Ant,

Well done on your latest Cape Yorker offering !!

My thoughts (after a very quick glance)??

I think the cut down version is ideal for online availability ! That, in itself, obviously reduces the stress from having enough content, sponsors & the need to get the printing done !

I assume that there is still some financial benefits from sponsorship? Offering it for free online sets an interesting precedence !!

I still need to play with some of the settings, but, some of the smaller text is a struggle for my crook eyesight :o

Ummm...too many photo's of Nedley's ugly muggin :p

Better read it all now...

Cheers

Scorcher

p.s. If you wouldn't mind emailing me a pdf copy, that would be very much appreciated !!

Thanks Scorcher,
I must admit, it was a gamble putting the pics of Nedly in there as the whole aim here is to INCREASE readership. I guess life is full of risks..
As for financial sponsorship. I will be upfront. No advertisers in this edition have paid. Unless I can show that the online model will work (ie: large readership) no-one wants to kick the can.
Offering the mag for free was a decision I made (against the advice from Batesy) purely so that it would potentially reach a wider audience.

As for the PDF file, I am going to have to reduce it as the current file is 81.5MB

Text size: you can enlarge it so that even someone like Stevie Wonder would be able to read it. No disrespect meant to Stevie.

Thanks Ant,

Yes, played with the settings & can now read it !

How do you gauge the level of readership?? Is there an on-line counter ?

I've read a few stories of late about the changing face of print media....you may just very well be one step ahead of a lot of groups !

Cheers

Scorcher

Hi Scorcher,
Glad you got it sorted. And, yes there is an online counter that I can access in the setting panel.

Happy reading.

:(

I know, secretly you all want to own a shirt like that.

Can't be too bad though, after all, Scorcher is after a pdf so he can make multiple copies.
Yeah, I'll go with that, that feels better.

Please sir, can I have a pdf as well.
Would like to share with the some of the computer challenged individuals amongst us.

Nedly...!

Bloody hell, the mag has truly become a trashy publication now!

Mind you, could be worse .... at least there wasn't a nude centrefold.

Harsh words Batesy.
Was it references to my crutch or thong that upset you?
Think about, you have to sleep tonight.

Centrefold was considered, but in the interest of public mental health decided it better to not go down that path.

Thank Christ there was no reference to your rod...

Or that 10 inch deep diver you lure the unsuspecting with! :)

Thanks aquilla,
Thats fine. The main reason the online edition is FREE is so that it can be seen by more eyes so feel free to share.
